An outstanding Russian choreographer, Russian dance star Mikhail Lavrovsky will give several masterclasses at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Invited by the theater administration, Lavrovsky will deliver a series of lectures for the company of Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Also

The administration of the theater will hold negotiations on an involvement of Lavrovsky in a new production to be staged in Baku.

The renowned dancer and Bolshoi Ballet star, Mikhail Lavrovsky, belongs to a family with a dancing tradition. He graduated from the Moscow School of Choreography where he received instruction from Nikolai Tarassov and Gleb Jevdokimov.

Lavrovsky joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1961. His romantic Temperament was evident in ballets like "The Flame of Paris", "Cinderella" and in "Laurencia". Lavrovsky had international success dancing tragic roles such as Ferhad in "The Legend of Love", Spartacus, Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet" and Ivan in "Ivan the Terrible".

As a classical dancer, he performed brilliantly Siegfried in "Swan Lake", the Nutcracker Prince, Bluebird in "Sleeping Beauty", Solor in "La Bayadere", and Basil in "Don Quixote".

After retiring from dancing in 1988, Lavrovsky resumed his teaching position at the Bolshoi Ballet. There he restructured the Institute of the Moscow School of Choreography and created choreographies for the Bolshoi Ballet. In 1995 Mikhail Lavrovsky was a jury member of the International Competition of Young Dancers, the Prix de Lausanne.
