Astana hosted international symposium on "Turkic World: History and Modernity" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan, Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, and the Presidential Center of Culture.
The symposium gathered together representatives from various countries, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Germany, Spain, Mongolia, China and Russia.
Speaking at the opening of the symposium Bakytzhan Abdiraiym, rector of the Eurasian National University, noted the importance of cooperation in the fields of education, social, humanitarian, legal and science among Turkic countries. He praised the activity of Turkology department at the University.
A decision on establishment of Lawyers Association of the Turkic world was adopted at the conference.
