Azerbaijani weightlifting team, attending these days the European Championship in Kazan faced an unpleasant situation.
The official website of the European Weightlifting Federation reported that Bulgarian Valentin Khristov, representing Azerbaijan, showed the best results in weight category 56 kg but did not gain the gold medal.
The second try of the athlete, after overcoming 262 kg, was annulled. As a result, Macedonian Oleg Sirgi was declared a winner by lifting more 480 grams more than the Bulgarian athlete.
