The 16th Boxing World Championships has started today here bringing together 570 sportsmen from 113 countries. On the first day, in the 48 weight category Abdeali Daraa (Morocco), Hamza Touba (Germany), Zou Shiming (China), Mark Barriga (Philippines), Ramy Elawady (Egypt), Avtandil Tchubabria (Georgia), Fahad Alfaifi (Saudi Arabia), Eros Correa (US), Thomas Essomba (Cameron), Junior Zarate (Argentina), Yosbany Veitia (Cuba), Naoya Inoue (Japan), Eduard Bermudez (Venezuela), Devendro Laishram (India), Jeremy Beccu (France) and Ronald Serugo (Uganda) progressed to the 1/16 round of the Championships.
In the 91 weight category, Mario Heredia (Mexico), Mirzohidjon Abdullaev (Uzbekistan), Eugenijus Tutkus (Lithuania), Davit Gogishvili (Georgia), Siarhei Karneyeu (Belarus), Samir El Mais (Canada), Chouaib Bouloudinats (Algeria), Anderson Emmanuel (Barbados), Christian Demaj (Albania), Damir Beljo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Jose Larduet (Cuba), Ihab Almatbouli (Jordan), Reza Moradkhani (Iran), Josep Williams (US) and Alexander Povernov (Germany) reached 1/16 round.
