“Human Rights Watch” announced its report on pre-election situation in Azerbaijan

The authors of the report stated that the opposition party members faced oppression by the police during the 1 October rally.

The “Human Rights Watch” states that it observed facts on restrictions to the freedom of assembly in the period of election campaign. The report claims that political allegations are made against the imprisoned members of the “Yeni Fikir” (New idea) Youths’ Organization.

The “Human Rights Watch” underlines that the citizens are concerned about for not meeting the reactions of the USA and the European Union to such cases.

“The citizens expect reaction to be made to the remarkable illegalities observed during the election campaign otherwise there will be such opinion in the society that the USA is only interested in the protection of oil investments in Azerbaijan”.
