Parliamentary elections are on the agenda of plenary session of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe

The Parliamentary Elections are going to be discussed on October 21-22 on the plenary session of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.

A plenary session of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe (CE) will be held in Venice on 21-22 October 2005. The agenda of the meeting includes the issue on democratic elections in Azerbaijan, the VC Secretariat told Trend. It is planned to discuss a draft joint opinion on amendments to the Elections Code of Azerbaijan, adopted by the VC jointly with the OSCE/Office for Democratic Institutes and Human Rights (ODIHR) adopted on 10 October.

During the session it is planned to discuss issues on the process of constitutional reforms in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, legal reforms in Serbia and former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The session will be attended by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CE), Terry Davis, the chairman of the Kyrgyz parliament and the Justice Minister of Serbia and Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia.
