Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov noted that operational data for January-April of this year reveals that electricity generation totaled 9,248.6 million kWh. During this period, exports stood at 407 million kWh, with imports totaling 62.2 million kWh, Azernews reports.

The minister further noted that electricity production from thermal power plants (TPPs) reached 8,198 million kWh, while renewable sources, including hydropower, contributed 1,050.5 million kWh, marking a rise of 464.5 million kWh compared to the same period last year.

Azerbaijan, situated at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, has been making strides in its energy sector over the past few decades. With a diverse array of energy resources, including oil, natural gas, and renewables, the country has been focusing on enhancing its energy production and distribution capabilities to meet domestic demand and establish itself as a significant player in the global energy market.

In recent years, Azerbaijan has been investing in various energy projects to bolster its electricity generation capacity and reduce reliance on imports. The government has been particularly keen on developing renewable energy sources, such as hydropower, solar, and wind, to diversify its energy mix and promote sustainability.

The Azerbaijani Energy Ministry, headed by Minister Parviz Shahbazov, plays a pivotal role in formulating and implementing policies to ensure the efficient and sustainable development of the country's energy sector. Through strategic planning and collaboration with domestic and international stakeholders, the ministry aims to address the challenges facing the energy industry while seizing opportunities for growth and innovation.

Monitoring operational data and reporting on key metrics, such as electricity production, exports, and imports, is crucial for policymakers and industry stakeholders to assess the performance of the energy sector and make informed decisions.
