Oil prices skyrocket after news of possible strike on Iran

U.S. press reports about alleged intentions by the US to strike Iran with nuclear weapons. The New Yorker has publish a column by Seymour Hersh, who cites his own sources in the George Bush's administration states that one of the variants of a possible strike being considered in the White House envisages applying tactical nuclear weapons.

As Hersh writes, one of the military plans submitted by the Pentagon to the White House envisages applying of tactical nuclear weapons that destroys underground shelters, such as B61-11, aimed to destroy underground nuclear facilities. His sources allegedly say that the Bush's administration has extended its secret activities in Iran and intensified planning of a possible massive air stroke of Iranian nuclear facilities.

"The Armed Forces responsible for planning draw up lists of targets, US military groups have received an order on secret penetration to Iran for collecting data and establishing contacts with anti-governmental groups from ethnic minorities," claims the author reports RSN.

Oil prices in international markets closely approached level of $68 per barrel. As RSN informs, price of oil to be supplied in May rose by $0.26 and totaled $67.65 per barrel at internet auction in New York.

The price growth was caused by bidders' fears concerning Middle-Eastern oil supply after American media had reported George Bush should organize military action against Iran in connection with Tehran's refusal to stop nuclear fuel enrichment.
