The Council of Europe Venice Commission (VC) has not changed its stance regarding the election legislation in Azerbaijan and its final opinion is still in effect.

As APA reports, touching on the talks between Azerbaijani government representatives and the Venice Commission on the eve of the winter session of the Council Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), the VC official called it technical meeting, and said the discussions in the meeting focused on forming election commissions and reviewing of complaints in the country in future.

The VC official also said that the Commission and official Baku are not expected to have talks before the re-run of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan scheduled for 13 May this year.

"Political bodies of Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe will cooperate in this period," the Commission official said.

The VC official also noted that the continuation of the dialogue between the Venice Commission and Azerbaijani authorities can be if the Azerbaijani side appeals for that.
