Azeri envoy meets Indonesian official

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Indonesia Ibrahim Hajiyev met October 31 with Speaker of Indonesia's House of Representatives Agung Laksono to discuss ways of further boosting the bilateral ties between the two countries, press service of the Embassy said.

Hajiyev informed the Indonesian Speaker about the activity of the Azerbaijan-Indonesia inter-parliamentary working group established in the Milli Majlis (the Parliament of Azerbaijan).

The Azeri Ambassador stressed the importance of reciprocal visits by both countries' speakers in terms of strengthening the bilateral relations.

Ibrahim Hajiyev spoke of the international projects Azerbaijan participating in, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum oil and gas projects as well as Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku and East-West and North-South transport projects.

He also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, saying Azerbaijan highly appreciates Indonesia's stance on this dispute.

The Azerbaijani diplomat congratulated Laksono on admission of Indonesia to the United Nations Security Council.

Agung Laksono, in his turn, informed the Azerbaijani ambassador about the activity of his country's House of Representatives.

He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits by both countries’ speakers and parliamentarians.

MLaksono said the House of Representatives will also establish Indonesia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary working group.

The Indonesian Speaker reiterated his country's stance on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, adding Indonesia would continue supporting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. AzerTAg
