It is well known that the Karabakh clan has long been in charge in Armenia.
It is also well known that the clan has no mercy for Armenian residents. All doubts on this matter were dispelled after the events of March 1, 2008, and those living in Armenia saw the bitter reality. However, everyone could have predicted it long before 2008 when Robert Kocharian became the president of Armenia.
The Kocharyan-Sarkissian duo did an inglorious job. In 1988, they, among others, attempted to take Nagorno-Karabakh from Azerbaijan and moved to Yerevan to overthrow Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Kocharian ruled Armenia for ten years and Sargsgyan has ruled the country for the last two years. For 22 years the game was bloody and thousands were killed.
Armenians matured on March 1. Citizens showed they want the 1998 status quo back; the period when Levon Ter-Petrosyan was overthrown. At that time, Levon Ter-Petrosyan published an article urging peace with Azerbaijan and withdrawal of troops from the occupied territories.
The duo shot unarmed Armenians in Yerevan on March 1, 2008. Over the last 20 years they have killed Azerbaijanis for the sake of power but on March 1 they saw no difference in targets. They are ready to kill anyone for the sake of power. Now Armenians know this for sure and they also know that the military junta of Karabakh Armenians has usurped power in Armenia.
In fact, the Kocharyan-Sargsyan duo failed to rule Armenia properly. Since 1988, Armenia has lost as much as it would never amass. The past two years since the March shooting have been the most “shocking” period.
Armenia’s human rights and freedom of speech record has become even worse over the past two years. Repression against opposition activists has intensified and brass knuckles have become the supreme ruler of the country. Armenian authorities are criticized both inside and outside the republic; PACE adopted a resolution urging to punish murderers of innocent civilians.
The struggle between the oligarchs has intensified. Supporters of Kocharian and Sargsyan are bitterly dividing a bear’s skin killed on March 1.
Many economies are experiencing difficulties due to the global financial crisis. It has a double effect in Armenia because of incompetent and destructive governance. Armenia's external debt is 45 percent of the annual GDP. Even a war with Azerbaijan could not cause such a terrible situation in Armenia.
Armenian authorities have finally spoiled relations with Georgia. Armenia lost the title of an outpost when Moscow got tired of financing all tricks of Armenians and finally opted for moving closer with successful Azerbaijan, with which it can secure positive results both in regional politics and economy. Sargsyan left the Diaspora disgruntled, which warned that it may stop subsidies to Armenian authorities.
Experts have warned of depopulation. Birth rates have declined twice in recent years with mortality rate being on the rise. Dire political, socio-economic conditions and uncertainty have made Armenia some kind of a child-free country.
Yerevan had to search for unconventional ways to resolve this problem.
The country lost another two years to resolve the conflict with Azerbaijan. Armenia has kept “NKR” as a hanger-on and Armenian young men were killed on the frontlines.
Armenia faces more problems every year.
One day conscience of the junta will wake up and stop looking at Armenia as a cow waiting to be milked. Why do we put pressure on Armenians if it is successfully done by the Kocharyan-Sargsyan duo?
