International conference on liberalization of electric energy market held in Baku

The International Conference on liberalization of energy and Azerbaijani electric energy distribution model was held at Ataturk Center in Baku.
As Trend reports, the Turkish delegation of MPs, the representatives of the Turkish Energy Ministry and energy departments, arrived in Baku to participate at the event.  Azerbaijan was represented at the conference by the representatives of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Standing Commission on Natural resources, Energy and Ecology, Standing Commission on Economic Policy, Ministry of Industry and Energy, Ministry of Economic Development.

Husseyn Arabul, the President of the Barmek Azerbaijan, noted that the goal of the conference was to hold discussion on the privatization and the liberalization of the electric energy sector.

During the event Azerbaijan got familiar with the Turkish practice in this direction, the Turkish – with the practice of the Barmek Azerbaijan. Arabul also noted that they plan to submit bill on state regulation of communal services to the Parliament for consideration.

Budak Dilli, the Director General of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, spoke about the history of the liberalization of the Turkish energy sector. “The services on energy supply is due to be rendered by the government, but it doesn’t meat that you should not attract private sector in the sphere,” he underlined.
