Azeri authorities express confidence on inflation level in 2006

The Azeri Government managed to keep inflation level in one-figure level.

As ANS reports, the State Statistics Committee says last year prices went up 9.6 per cent. Mostly food staffs were made expensive-10.9 per cent. Non-food stuffs became expensive 5.4 per cent. Cervices went up 9.7 per cent. Rise in prices occurred mainly in last December-5.4 per cent. The State Statistics Committee explains it with New Year eve price rise.

The authorities say without the Decree on Anti-inflation Measures signed by Azeri president on May 2005, inflation level would have exceed 10 per cent. By the way, according to forecasts, the inflation rate in 2006 won’t exceed 9 per cent.
