Dismissed workers to sue PCH company in a court - UPDATED

Samir Nabiyev, Anar Badalov and Vusal Jafarov, persons who were fired by McDermott's contractor company PCH are ready to take legal actions against company's management.

"Dismissal of 5 employees from PCH was linked with the expiration of their labor contracts cnluded with the company," a lawyer of PCH Offshore, Mehman Sultanov, told Trend. 

Sultanov stressed absence of any fact of violation. The contracts were concluded for 3-5 months following the implementation of the project. In the course of the project the contracts expire and the employees are dismissed from their posts.

Touching upon the appeals by the dismissed employees to the court the official of the company said that it was a right of every citizen. "The legal proceedings will clarify the case," Sultanov stressed.

As to announcements on pressures by PCH on employees in connection with their membership at the Trades Union are not correct, Sultanov said. "Our company would never allow that, as it is the direct violation of rights," the lawyer underlined.

According to Sultanov, the workers can be anew invited to work under the new projects, as no violation was fixed during their activities at PCH.

Previously worked as decorators and joiners above-mentioned persons are going to prove illigality of their dismissal, APA was informed by Vusal Jafarov's brother, Vasif Jafarov, the head of PCH's company trade-union.

According to him, one of the main reasons of the dismissal was participation of these workers in the strike at the end of last year.

He told that workers are under the pressure from company's management: "Contracts are singning for one month only. Such approach will allow to fire anyone who participate in a future strikes". According to Mr.Jafarov the next reduction of the local staff of PCH company are expected soon.

In his interview to APA Allkhyar Eyyubov, the head of Bos Shelf's company trade-union, expressed his support to the colleagues and stated that they are ready to join energies against lawless action toward the workers.

PCH company's opinion regarding this question is not known.
