An exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Baku's liberation from the Dashnak-Bolshevik occupation has opened in the Azerbaijan National Museum of History on September 14.

The exhibition presents more than 120 unique historical exhibits from museum weapons funds and banners, archival materials, maps of battles, images of battle scenes, photo documents that tell of the events of those days, Trend Life reported.

Among the exhibits are weapons and accessories of Azerbaijani soldiers, weapons of the troops of the Baku Soviet, the Centro-Caspian Dictatorship, British troops, artifacts found on the battlefields, Ottoman orders awarded to Azerbaijani soldiers, as well as books and catalogs on the Caucasian Islamic Army.

The exposition also features busts of Nuri Pasha and Habib bey Salimov, portraits of Turkish and Azerbaijani generals, created by the sculptor and artist Ajdar Gafarov. It is interesting that the exposition is strewn with scarlet poppies, and poetic lines pay tribute to the heroes - Turkish and Azerbaijani soldiers who died in the name of Azerbaijan's independence.

The event began with the performance  of the national anthems of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Next, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral, the head of  the museum, academician Nailya Velikhanly, the head of the Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the assistant to the President, Professor Dilyara Seidzade, the academician Nargiz Akhundova spoke about the important historical event in the life of the fraternal peoples, stressing the significance of the 100th anniversary of Baku's liberation.

The liberation of Baku is an event of exceptional importance for the Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship and brotherhood.

On September 15, 1918, Baku was liberated by the Caucasian Islamic Army, comprised of Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers, led by Turkish General Nuri Pasha. Thus, Azerbaijan gained independence and the domination of Armenians and Bolsheviks in Baku and surrounding areas came to an end.

Despite that during 70 years of the Soviet rule this event was purposefully explained in an erroneous context, the Azerbaijani people never forgot the heroism of Turkish soldiers.

The liberation of Baku from Bolshevik-Dashnak occupation is one of the most glorious pages in the history of Azerbaijan of the 20th century.

Many years have passed since those events, but the brotherly help of the Turks is never forgotten, it has always been remembered and will be remembered by the Azerbaijani people with a sense of gratitude.
