Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani plans to discuss several issues with his Chinese counterpart, Dong Jun, at the end of November during a meeting of defense ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Laos, Azernews reports.
During the meeting, the two sides are expected to emphasize the importance of dialogue in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Nakatani, for his part, expressed Japan's concerns about what Tokyo perceives as an intensification of Chinese military activities, as well as Chinese aircraft violating Japanese airspace.
At the same time, Kyodo News Agency reported on November 12 that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba plans to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on November 15, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru.
