Textile exports from Turkey's southeast reached 2.3 billion USD in 2009.
According to the data provided by Southeast Anatolian Exporters' Unions (GAIB), the region gained 2.3 billion USD thanks to the sale of textile products and related raw
materials to foreign countries in 2009.
Textile sector made the the greatest foreign exchange contribution to southeast Anatolia's economy last year, officials said.
The share of textile products and raw materials in the region's exports in total amounted to 61.2 percent in 2009, officials added.
