Kosovo's Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said Albanians living in Kosovo and Albania would get closer once the highway is finished.
The Bechtel-Enka consortium, a partnership of San Francisco-based Bechtel International and Istanbul-based Enka, is expected to complete the highway in five years.
Transportation Minister Fatmir Limaj said the highway would cost around 800 million Euros.
