The top U.S. diplomat in Turkey said on Tuesday that Turkey and the United States could raise their trade volume "by three-folds".
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey James Jeffrey defined Turkey as a great market for the United States.
The United States was supporting improvement of commercial and economic ties with Turkey, Jeffrey said in a dinner hosted on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of establishment of American Business Forum in Turkey (ABFT).
Jeffrey said two countries needed a stronger economic relationship that also included the private sector.
Two countries had almost 15 billion USD of trade volume, Jeffrey said.
The ambassador also said this figure could be raised by three-folds in a few years.
The ABFT serves as an American Chamber of Commerce in Turkey and represents approximately 60 prestigious U.S. firms operating in Turkey.
Founded with a mission to improve the business and investment environment for U.S. companies in Turkey, ABFT has remained focused on this objective through advocacy and business development initiatives.
