President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said promotion of ties between Iran and Turkey benefits both countries as well as peace and security in the region.
According to the Presidential Office Website, President Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called relations between the two countries 'brotherly and expanding'.
He added that Iran and Turkey can take long steps towards peace and security in the region by consolidating ties.
The president said that Iran is following the policy of increasing ties with Turkey with good will and confidence and considers bilateral and multilateral relations beneficial to both nations and the region.
Davutoglu said that Iran has a prominent position in the region and that Turkey considers its relations with Iran very important and intends to promote its cooperation with Iran in all fields.
He also called for acceleration in implementation of bilateral projects and agreements.
