The ICESCO (the Organization for Education, Science and Culture of the Islamic countries) week will be held in Azerbaijan from 23 till 28 May, 2005, head of the foreign relations and coordination department under the Ministry of Education Mahir Aliyev told Trend.
According to Aliyev, with this purpose ICESCO Director General Abdulaziz Osman el Tuveydjri will pay a visit to Azerbaijan together with the organization's expert's delegation. 2 seminars, entitled "Teaching of civic consciousness" and "Modern technologies and methods of teaching of the Arabian language and literature" and a scientific-practical conference will be held in the framework of the week, head of the department said.
During the visit the ICESCO Director General will hold bilateral meetings with the Azerbaijan Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, with the officials of the country.
In 2005 the relations between the organization and Azerbaijan will be built on 5 basic programs for the development of the educational system in the country, Aliyev noted. They are: improvement of curriculum for schools and higher educational institutions, rendering them technical assistance, development and strengthening of material resources for educational institutions where the Arabic language is being taught. Since 1991 Azerbaijan is a member of this organization and Mahir Aliyev represented Azerbaijan at the ICESCO Executive Committee since 1993.
