The conference organized in the framework of Warsaw University’s special program on Eastern Europe brought together Azerbaijani ambassador to Poland Vilayet Guliyev, Armenian ambassador to Poland Ashot Hovakimyan, attache of Georgian embassy Nino Baratishvili, as well as heads of diplomatic representations of Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, European Union, the US, Iran, Lithuania and Latvia accredited in Warsaw.
Rector of the Warsaw University professor Katalina Khalasinka-Matsukov made an opening speech. Associate of Peace and Democracy in Azerbaijan Arif Yunus also delivered a speech at the conference. He spoke about problems and prospects of the post-Soviet Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Ph.d student of Warsaw University Shahla Kazimova delivered a report on revival of Islam in Azerbaijan. Other reporters mentioned the role of the South Caucasus in the European security policy, democratic organizations established in 2 years after the "Rose revolution" in Georgia, in the South Caucasus as well, unrecognized states in the region, alternative ways of regulating the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and the policy pursued by Georgian authorities on national minorities as well as some other issues.
