Jalal Aliyev blames Fatma Abdullazade for problems in science, education and culture

02 March 2006 [09:10] - TODAY.AZ
"Milli Majlis Education Commission chief has been filling press and TVs with various information that postgraduate course will allegedly be abolished. Laws are adopting by Milli Majlis but not by a commission chief," MP Jalal Aliyev said yesterday at a session of Milli Majlis.

Saying this problem remained unsolved during the previous parliament compositions, Jalal Aliyev thinks that some people are to blame for it, APA informs.

"Fatma Abdullazade is to be blamed for destruction of science and culture in Azerbaijan and removal of prominent figures from their posts. The postgraduate course is not education but science. It should be abolished by survey or referendum. The Academy of Science and Universities worry about this problem. This problem should be discussed there; their opinion should be taken into account. We should know who makes such a proposal. They think that education system should be in Azerbaijan like abroad."

Saying two-stage postgraduate course has 300-year history in Azerbaijan and gave great benefit to the development of education, Jalal Aliyev stressed that he is against abolishment of postgraduate course.

"This question was raised in Russia too. But it was decided not to change this form. But Fatma Abdullazade is addressing educational problems in Azerbaijan. Who authorized her to spread information that postgraduate course has annulled in Azerbaijan? Panah Huseyn also wanted to abolish the Academy of Science formerly but Heydar Aliyev prevented him."

Jalal Aliyev said that 60-70% of those who got postgraduate degree recently had no connection with science.

"I get official information from the Supreme Attestation Commission that most students defend thesis in law, economy, literature and medical science. A few defend in other fields. Some of them graduated from the universities in 1950s, but they defend thesis now. Some of them are MPs-speculators."

Jalal Aliyev thinks the bill on education can be discussed.

The Speaker Ogtay Asadov said that this bill will be discussed in the parliament.

"If necessary, we will put a question for discussion and consult with scientists."

MP Fazail Agamali also said that some persons are guilty for non-adoption of the bill on Education. "This bill has not been adopted yet for the "whim" of two ladies. Their names are known to everybody."
