Tabriz market to stage a strike protesting against Iran paper insulting Azerbaijanis

The World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) told APA that the protesters are demanding taking the newspaper to court. Protest actions organized by students of Tabriz, Urmiya and Ardabil universities three days ago are still continued.

Akbar Alami and Ishret khanim Shaig, deputies of Iran Islamic Council Assembly, which has been organized in Tabriz regarding this matter, appealed to the parliament authorities. The deputies demanded investigating the newspaper's publicizing a caricature in which Azerbaijanis were described as cockroaches.

Workers of Tabriz city market decided to go on strike on 21 May protesting against the caricature. This market is one of the largest economic establishments in Iran.
