Causes of AN-140-100 crash to be announced

Kazim Sharifov, Chief of Safety and Emergency Department of Transport Ministry, has told that the causes are investigated by both State Concern officers and aviation experts. The President is regularly told about the results too. Mr. Sharifov has told that the main cause of the crash is considered to be airliner’s technical malfunction.

"Ukraine, who made that plane, rejects the fact laying the blame on crew. I would like to add that AZAL is the world’s safest air company today. That plane was new that time," he said.

Mr. Sharifov has also added that about 20 specialists from Kharkov Factory, where that plane was made, are also included into the investigation commission.

"Although the flight recorder was found on the back of airliner, the other one recording pilot and captain's speeches on control board was not found. This is what makes difficulties to find all facts till the end. In order to prevent such problems, The Ministry is currently working on national norms" he said.
