Health Ministry prohibited using of beaches in Shikhov, Novkhani, Buzovna, and Shuvalan coastline area

With regard to beginning spring-summer season, Azerbaijan Health Ministry aimed at prevention of infectious diseases, has held laboratory examinations in Baku beaches.

It was identified as a result of examinations that except some private beaches, preparation to the season is unsatisfactory in Mardakan, Buzovna, Zagulba, Pirshaghi Nardaran, Novkhani, Shikh and Sahil beaches.

Bird and seal dead bodies have not been removed in the area where people mostly use—Novkhany and Pirshagi. Pirshagi Sanatorium–Resort Union sewerage system pollutes coastline area. Due to the sanitary system in the territories of Buzovna and Zagulba residential areas, not reaching the Shuvalan-Mardakan sewerage system run into the sea in apart from Buzovna beach, APA informs.

Sumgayit and Jorat residential are dirty water also caused pollution in the area close to Novkhany beach. The investigations show that bacteriological pollution in early April and May of 2005 was 52,3 percent, this indicator was 85,5 percent in 2006, especially in Shikh, Novkhani, Buzovna and Shuvalan beaches Intestinal bacteria was between 10 to 20 times more above the norm. The minister taking into consideration the possible diseases has prohibited the area of Shikh, Novkhani, Buzovna, and Shuvalan settlement coastline area from June 1.
