State Border Service detained 44 wanted last month

As APA reports, the border guards confiscated two submachine-guns, two chargers, one bayonet knife, one hand grenade, 650 cartridges, one fowling-piece, one hunting knife, 1.634 kg of illicit drugs last month.

Nine attempts to violate the state border were prevented in May and as a result, twenty Afghans, four Iranians, and two Azerbaijanis were detained. Besides, seventeen Azerbaijani citizens were detained for breaking border regime regulations.

Three Azerbaijanis, two Chinese, one French, one Lithuanian, one Uzbekistani, one Turkish and three Georgian citizens were detained for attempting to pass the border with forged documents last month. Azerbaijani border guards detained 37 foreign citizens for attempting to pass the border with improper documents.

Six Malaysians, four Indians, two Iraqis, two Nepal, two Yemeni, two Syrians, one Egyptian and one Sudanese were detained for having no visas and one Turkish, one Azerbaijani as suspects. The border guards prevented smuggling of products at the cost of AZN 50 thousand manats in May. Ten new border checkpoints were opened in Azerbaijan-Georgia border in May.
