Misir Mardanov: "Court will make final decision on Independent Azerbaijan University"

12 June 2006 [16:23] - TODAY.AZ
"Court will make final decision on the private Independent Azerbaijan University," Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists.

As APA reports, he said majority of the university students going on hunger strike have stopped the strike.

"Main part of the issue has been solved. Term exams are held at the university at present. As you know, Education Ministry has appealed to court for closing the university. The court will decide whether the university will function," the Minister said.

Mardanov also said some of the students entered the University through test exams but some through illegal ways. He added that the way of transferring the students to other universities will also be decided by the court.

Commenting on some students of the IAU refusing their degrees, the Minister said these students have been warned against study at the university on time.

"However, they ignored the warning. It is their rights to refuse their degrees after four-year of study."
