Azerbaijani Youth of America donated books about Azerbaijan to Library of Congress

Representatives of Azerbaijani Youth of America, Elchin Abdullayev, Rovshan Muradov and Rza Aliyev met with officials of Library of Congress, in order to donate books about Azerbaijan to the Libaray. Officials as, Director of Center for Caucasus Dr. Christopher Murphy, Director of Collections and Services Dr. Jeremy Adamson, and Chief librarian Dr. Marchun hosted meeting with youth delegate. During the meeting books published by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, State Committee on Affairs with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan Republic, State Committee for Family Women and Child issues and Ministry of Communication and Technology of Azerbaijan Republic. Books presented to officials represent culture and heritage of Azerbaijan, religious and ethnic tolerance in Azerbaijan and modern life in oil-rich young and contemporary country.

Officials of Library of Congress were very impressed and brought their appreciation to youth delegated for being actively engaged in exchange with Library, and donating credible and valuable books to Library. Officials also stated that, books would appear on the collection of Caucasus section of Library, soon.

“Azerbaijani Youth of America could be a bridge in between the future collaboration of Library of Congress and Azerbaijan” officials said.

Azerbaijani Youth of America, actively collaborating with two biggest libraries of the world, Library of Congress and Library of Alexandria. In order to engage deeply in exchange with these two biggest libraries, youth delegates met with Director of Library of Alexandria, who`s also the Executive Director of World Digital Library Dr. Ismail Serageldin on July 15.

Dr. Serageldin talked about the possibilities of Azerbaijani youth, bringing up the fact that more than fifty percent of Azerbaijan`s population is under thirty years old youth. Dr. Serageldin also highlighted the opportunities of Azerbaijani Youth, and importance of investing in their education.

“Youth are always new openings, new opportunities, new discoveries. With such a huge volume of youth population, Azerbaijani Youth can change the world, because they have healthy mind in healthy body. For the young and fast developing country like Azerbaijan, youth are the greatest opportunities.” said Dr. Serageldin.

During the meeting with Dr. Serageldin youth delegates also discussed Dr. Serageldin`s possible future official visits to Azerbaijan. Dr. Serageldin also stated that he was happy to collaborate with young and promising Azerbaijani Youth.

Azerbaijani Youth of America provides opportunities for learning about the country of Azerbaijan, fosters pride and solidarity among Azerbaijani and Azerbaijani-American students in the United States, and contributes to strengthening U.S.-Azerbaijani relations.
