Babayev meets Bulgarian Speaker

Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev met November 24 with the visiting delegation of Bulgaria led by chairman of the Bulgarian Parliament Georgi Pirinski.

On the economic reforms, and accomplishments achieved, Babayev said that Azerbaijan puts a special emphasis on the international economic ties.

According to the Minister, the negotiations held and documents signed during President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's visit to Bulgaria in September 2005 allowed to expand bilateral relationship even more. The trade turnover with Bulgaria reached $105,4 in 2005. However, there are enormous potential for expanding trade relations.

Saying that non-oil sector development is priority in Azerbaijan, Babayev stressed the need to enhance economic cooperation with Bulgaria. According to him, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation may play a key role in developing business ties between businessmen of both countries.

Speaker of Bulgarian Parliament Georgi Pirinski said Bulgaria places a special emphasis on the development of economic relations with Azerbaijan.

Pirinski said that Azerbaijan is the country that enjoys great prestige in the region, and highlighted the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline for ensuring Europe's energy security. Georgi Pirinski noted that Bulgaria pays a special attention to developing economic cooperation with Azerbaijan. AzerTAg
