Azerbaijan recognized best at Expo 2016 Antalya

The World Botanical EXPO 2016 kicked off in Antalya, Turkey.

The expo, one of the most important horticultural exhibitions on a 112-hectare exhibition site, includes Turkey's first agriculture and biodiversity museum, a greenhouse, Turkey's largest congress center, two amphitheaters, an artificial island and a science and technology center for children, Trend Life reported.

A many as 54 countries presented their national horticultural tradition emphasizing international diversity.

With the theme "Flowers and Children" and the slogan "A green world for future generations," EXPO 2016 displayed Turkey's history and cultural diversity as well as its rich agricultural and economic potential.

National pavilion of Azerbaijan, covering about 2,000 square meters of the exhibition space, was assembled under the support of the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Rich fauna of Azerbaijan, its unique biodiversity as well as ancient Azerbaijani carpets were demonstrated in the exhibition. 

National pavilion received award for the best garden exterior and interior.

Azerbaijan shared the first place with China, Germany, South Korea, Qatar, Thailand and Japan.

Nepal, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, and Singapore were the second, while Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Turkmenistan and India ranked third.

In addition to the now-traditional awards, the event featured special prize to mark the end of show.

EXPO 2016 Antalya opening attended by top level officials, including Minister of Food, Agriculture, Chairman of EXPO 2016 Antalya Faruk Çelik.

In his remarks, Çelik said that over four million visitors were attracted to the six-month food-themed world fair. Some days, the number of visitors exceeded 70,000 people.
