Tahir Taghizadeh: "European parliament resolution is biased and groundless"

21 February 2006 [10:57] - TODAY.AZ
"The 16 February resolution of European parliament denouncing the alleged destruction of Armenian monuments in Julfa region of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is biased and groundless,"- the spokesman of Foreign Ministry, Tahir Taghizadeh said.

As APA reports, he underlined that Azerbaijan which is distinguished for its historical ethnic diversity, has always demonstrated its will to develop this: "About 3.5 million cultural and historical monuments in our country are preserved by the state. Azerbaijan has been transparently and constructively cooperating with all the relevant international organizations, and gained positive achievements on an international level. We regret that, the European parliament adopted a resolution called national heritage in Azerbaijan under the pressure of radical forces of Armenian Diaspora on February 16. This should be assessed as a biased and groundless step on the background of regular destruction of Azerbaijani cultural and historical monuments in Armenia and in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia."

"The international community has already recognized the fact that Armenia destructed the monuments in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. So, it is surprising that such influential organization as European parliament adopted this resolution", concluded Mr.Taghizadeh.
