Five months after the start of the economic package, the level of extreme poverty in Cuba increased to 89 percent, Azernews reports.
According to the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH), 19 percent of the population survive with less than 5 euros per month, 33 percent - less than 15 euros, 19 percent – less than 30 euros. Only 3 percent of the respondents earn more than 195 euros per month.
The State of Social Rights in Cuba report notes that these figures reflect the situation of poverty, shortages of food and medicine, and unreliability of basic public services, which millions of Cuban families believe are suppressing them. Lack of confidence in the future is at the heart of the observed growing migration flow.
