Turkiye's Anadolu news department head highlights importance of accurate climate reporting

The COP29 conference, to be hosted by Baku, is of great importance. The attention of the whole world will be focused here.

Hale Aydogmush, head of environmental news at Turkiye's "Anadolu Agency," spoke to reporters about this, Azernews reports.

"We must evaluate this period well. Journalists covering climate issues must accurately convey what is said here and the decisions made. To be a journalist in this field requires specialized training. They must understand climate-related terminology and be informed about the COP conferences.

This is why training is so important. They should conduct climate research. Today, I will also share my experiences with trainers. Every inaccurately written term undermines the reputation and credibility of the journalist and the institution they work for," he said.

It should be noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Azerbaijan in November this year. The decision to host COP29 was made at the COP28 plenary session held in Dubai on December 11 of last year.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed in June 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, aimed at preventing dangerous human interference with the climate system. The abbreviation "COP" (Conference of Parties) refers to the "Conference of the Parties," the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change.
