UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of his birthday.
According to Azernews, the letter reads:
"Your Excellency,
On behalf of the United Nations Country Team in Azerbaijan, please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your birthday. I wish you good health, happiness, and success in all endeavours for the sustainable and green development of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
I would also like to take this opportunity and congratulate Azerbaijan on successfully hosting and chairing the 29th Climate Conference (COP29). COP29 played a vital role in advancing the global climate agenda. Notably, the adoption of a new climate finance goal of at least $300 billion annually by 2035, the establishment of a global carbon trading system, as well as the extension of the Enhanced Lima Work Programme on Gender for 10 years, are significant milestones that will shape future efforts to raise ambition, as well as enhance gender equality and just transition in climate policy and action.
The United Nations is committed to continuing its partnership with Azerbaijan. We look forward to developing the new UN-Azerbaijan Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework to guide our joint efforts in the period 2026-2030 towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
I would also like to convey my congratulations to Your Excellency and to the people of Azerbaijan on the forthcoming Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," the letter reads.
