GUAM Sec-General sends congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev

GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev sent a heartfelt congratulatory letter to Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on his birthday.

According to Azernews, the letter reads:

His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Your Excellency,

On behalf of the International Secretariat of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM and me personally, I would like to extend our most sincere congratulations on your birthday!

We wish you further success and new victories in realizing the ideas and strategy of national resurrection and development laid down by the National leader Heydar Aliyev! Under your leadership, the Republic of Azerbaijan is successfully transforming into a strong, modern, prosperous country with impressive achievements in many areas and a key actor in regional and global affairs.

We admire the progress made in statehood building and institutional development, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and reintegration of the liberated lands into the country's social and economic fabric, diversification and modernization of the economy, and active role in regional and global affairs.

The national rehabilitation and reconstruction program after the victorious liberation of the occupied lands and complete restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty within the internationally recognized borders is unseen and unprecedented in scale, magnitude, complexity, and tempo. The realization of the program of the return of the refugees and displaced population to their native lands deserves the highest praise and study on an international scale.

We also highly appreciate your persistent laborious efforts in seeking a post-war fair and lasting peace and stability in the region based on the norms and principles of international law.

Under your leadership, Azerbaijan continues strengthening its role and authority in international affairs. The successful global event – the COP29 Summit, recently concluded in Baku, is an eloquent testament to that! Your principled and consistent stance on many key issues in international affairs and your ability to deliver on set goals have earned you high international authority, respect, and the reputation of a true leader.

As a regional organization, we stand ready to support your initiatives to promote regional peace, stability, and cohesion through the implementation of regional projects and initiatives. We are also interested in learning the experience of Azerbaijan that can be shared among the GUAM Member States. We value the contribution of Azerbaijan to regional cooperation and look forward to its further strengthening in the ODED-GUAM framework.
