Mikhail Saakashvili and Vladimir Putin fail to solve problems between their countries

However, the two-hour talks gave no results. In the briefing following the talks, the Presidents admitted that they failed to reach an agreement for the solution of the current problems between the two countries.

Both Saakashvili and Putin said there is no problem without a way out, simply there should exist an intention to solve a problem, APA reports.

During the talks, the two Presidents focused on Russia's ending to back the separatist regimes acting in Georgia. Vladimir Putin told the news conference that people's interests should be taken into account regarding the issues on territories. He said the Chechnya problem was also solved on the basis of people's interests.

"The events in Chechnya concluded in the Chechen people adopting a new Constitution through a referendum. So, Chechnya remains Russia's legal territory. Since we intend to solve any problem regarding territories, we should take into account the intention of the people first," President Putin said.

President Saakahsvili expressed his discontent with this opinion, "Separatist regimes should be regarded as absolute aggression. Georgia is prepared to have a constructive dialogue with Russia to put an end to the separatist regimes. On the other hand, our territories have been occupied. Georgia is a small and beautiful country, it should not be disturbed. We do not owe a peace of land to anyone, no one can occupy our one meter of land from Osetia and Abkhazia. I believe, gradually, we will be able to solve this problem with Russia. We support having peaceful neighborhood relations with Russia," the Georgian President said.

Saakashvili and Putin could not agree on lifting the ban imposed on import of Georgian wines into Russia. Saakashvili told the new conference that the sooner Russia lifts the ban on the import of Georgian wines the better it will be.

"Russia can export our wine to other countries. I would not like Russia live without Georgian wine," he said.

Putin said this problem will be solved once and for all if Georgia solves the problem regarding producing counterfeit wine.
