The two sides explored ways of expanding economic and commercial cooperation, as well as investment in the construction of power plants and exchange of electricity between Iran and Georgia, IRNA reported.
The officials also studied grounds for expansion of trilateral cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia, and also reviewed expansion of transportation, gas and electricity ties between the three countries.
The Georgian premier, for his part, lauded Iran's assistance in exporting gas to Georgia during critical winter conditions last year and called for continued cooperation between the two sides in energy and gas sectors.
Meanwhile, Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili late Monday referred to Iran as a "real friend and a good neighbor" of his country.
During a meeting with Safari, he underlined the need for further expansion of wide-ranging bilateral relations.
The two officials expressed hope that Iran-Georgia Economic Commission would reconvene in the near future.
Latest regional and international developments, particularly the recently concluded Israeli military offensive in Lebanon, were among other issues discussed in the meeting.
Safari arrived in Tbilisi Monday for a two-day visit.
