Maurizio Pavesi hopes for amendments to Azerbaijan Election Code in 2007

The diplomat noted that OSCE / ODIHR and CE Venice Commission continue negotiations with the Azerbaijani government on amendments to the Election Code, APA reports.

"There may be amendments to the Election Code next year, if not this year, as no elections will be held in 2007. I have no detailed information about the negotiations. The amendments to the Election Code will depend on the overall results of negotiations. Anyway, amendments are likely to be made next year," Mr. Pavesi said.
