12 December 2006 [14:27] - TODAY.AZ
"I have informed President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammedyarov about the situation of prisons in Azerbaijan. I think the situation needs to be improved," member of the Monitoring Group of the PACE Eduard Lintner told reporters.

He said that hospital will be constructed for ill prisoners.

"The situation of prisons is reflected on the report of Monitoring Group visiting Baku on November. This report will be discussed at the plenary session of the PACE in April. The preliminary report can be discussed in January, but we will present it in April," he said.

Eduard Lintner pointed out that the situation has been improved in last 5 years, APA reports.

"The prisoners' conditions have been improved contrasted to 2002, but there are a lot to do. Azerbaijan has not solved the the problem of political prisoner and we take this issue serious," he said.
