18 December 2006 [23:32] - TODAY.AZ
Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has declared he is satisfied with the results of the negotiation process in 2006.

"Generally, I positively assess the year 2006. Really, the talks were productive, a similar evaluation is given by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs," Mammadyarov told the journalists.

"I can say during 2.5 years of the Prague process we have really registered a great progress in the process of settlement of the conflict and have agreed on a number of issues," he noted. The Minister underlined that the negotiation process will continue in 2007.

Elmar Mammadyarov expressed hope that "the Armenian side is sincerely disposed to resolve the question, and their request for some time to consider the further steps is in no way connected with the parliamentary elections in Armenia."

"Only one serious question remains today, and if we come to an agreement, it will really be a serious move breakthrough. On the other hand, we would like to believe that that the Armenian side takes the negotiations seriously, and does not kill time from the political point of view," declared the Azeri Foreign Minister.

Nevertheless, Mammadyarov said that the talks are proceeding with the "consideration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."
