Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Azerbaijan

A governmental delegation led by Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchekhr Mottaki will pay a visit to Azerbaijan in early April.

The due information was provided by Khadi Sheikh Gafuri, first deputy ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

He said the visit mainly aims at participation in the seventh session of the intergovernmental economic commission of Azerbaijan.

"The date of the visit and composition of the delegation are currently being determined via diplomatic channels. Preliminary works for conduction of the next session of the intergovernmental economic commission Azerbaijan-Iran in Baku" have started.

A number of documents on bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran will be signed in the framework of the session. These agreements will cover economy, culture, communication and other fields.

"There is also a plan to sign an agreement on the improvement and facilitation of visa-free regime between the two neighbor countries", Gafuri noted.

The co-chairman of the intergovernmental economic commission Azerbaijan-Iran representing Azerbaijan is Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov.

The commission, which was created in line with a presidential decree in 2007, comprises leaders of a number of Ministries and state structures of the country.
