Azaldyg opposition newspaper files claim to European Court

Azadlyg opposition newspaper has filed a claim to the European Court of Human Rights, a source from the Institute for Media Rights told Day.Az.
Thus, the claim states violation of the 10th and 6th articles of the European Convention of Human Rights, unbiased court trial on the case of the newspaper and demands compensation for moral damage.

It should be reminded that former assistant for President Tariel Aghayev filed a claim against Azadlyg newspaper for articles, published in this edition, in 2006. The plaintiff said in his claim that the articles does not comply with reality.

In November of 2006, the Sabail District Court passed a decision to pay a compensation in the amount of AZN 65,000 to the plaintiff. Next were the appeals to the Appellate and Supreme courts, which were not granted.
