Ali Hasanov: "It was clear from the beginning that the parties in Azerbaijan will not be able to come to an agreement on the principle of parity formation of the election commissions"

It was clear from the beginning that the proposal of the Venice commission regarding the  balanced formation of the commissions will not be executed as Azerbaijani parties will not be able to come to an agreement, said Ali Hasanov, chief of the sociopolitical department of the presidential administration.

He said the current principle of formation of the commissions is the most optimal today.

"The majority, opposition and independent are represented in the commissions. This formula has been worked out since 2000", said Hasanov.

At the same time, he noted that the authorities, like the Venice Commission, consider that the Election commissions should gain public trust, yet it is impossible to propose a principle of commissions formation, which would be better than the current one.

"In the future we will also organize formation of the commissions by professionals, which are far from the politics", said he.
