Israel to facilitate visa regime for those visiting Azerbaijan: ambassador

26 August 2009 [16:41] - TODAY.AZ
The Israeli Foreign Ministry is working to facilitate visa regime for Israeli citizens traveling to Azerbaijan. It will promote tourism cooperation, new Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Lavon-Lotem said.
"The work in this regard is already underway. Visa is a problem for development of tourism between two countries, because it takes time to get it," Michael Lavon-Lotem said.

Azerbaijan has a very high tourism potential. But it is necessary to convey possibilities of development of tourist relations to the Israeli market, the ambassador said.

"The main point is not Azerbaijan's tourism potential which is rather great. The main point is Israelis interest in it," Lavon-Lotem said.

Ambassador said it is necessary to attract several Israeli travel agencies to Azerbaijan and give information about Azerbaijani travel agencies in Israeli media to enhance tourism relations.

"If we work hard now we will see a considerable rise in flow of tourists next spring. The more people and companies are involved, it is easier to extend the number of tourists," Michael Lavon-Lotem said.

Facilitating visa regime can have a positive impact on development of tourism cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel.
