Jews in Azerbaijan have always resided in peace and harmony with representatives of different nationalities and religions, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated in a meeting with the U.S. Jewish community, the Foreign Ministry said.

Mammadyarov is currently on a visit to New York to participate in the 64th UN General Assembly.
A model of tolerance of religious and national communities of Azerbaijan is one of national wealth of the country, Mammadyarov said.
The Jewish community appraised the level of tolerance in Azerbaijan and success of Israeli President Shimon Peres's visit to Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijani President's Ilham Aliyev's congratulatory message to Jews on Rosh ha-Shana holiday - Jewish New Year.
Mammadyarov said that Peres' visit to Azerbaijan gave impetus to rapid development of relations with Israel.
The meeting focused on regional issues, Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, and Azerbaijan's visions on regional and global processes.
