Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is taking strong steps to prevent ‘swine flu’ (A/H1N1) from spreading into the country, AZAL Spokesperson Maharram Safarli said.

The crew has been instructed to take all necessary actions in event of suspected ‘swine flu’ cases among passengers, he said.
"Schemes of warning have been designed in case dangerous infections are revealed in civil aviation facilities and on board of aircraft. Medical staff, the Office of Aviation Security, Customs Service and Border Service are involved in preventive measures,” he said.
“Officers of medical and sanitary department, medical specialists at the State Customs Committee sanitary-quarantine section and other relevant bodies take complete health and quarantine measures at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport,” he added.
“Six thermal scanners of Japanese production have been secured to detect the A/H1N1 in passengers.”
“The control has been tightened so that individuals who arrive in Azerbaijan provide a health certificate. Security in civil aviation facilities has been upped,” he noted.
Moreover, personal protection equipment, masks, gloves and disinfectants agaisnt ‘swine flu’ have been purchased to be used on board of aircraft and ground facilities, he said.
"Booklets about acute respiratory diseases and influenza prevention have been circulated. Regular flu vaccine is injected to flight crew, guides and employees providing ground services,” he said.
