13 January 2010 [10:33] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan will launch vaccination against the A/H1N1 pandemic influenza virus on Jan.13, the Health Ministry reported.
The World Health Organization (WHO) delivered 90,000 doses of vaccine from the planned 172,000 to Azerbaijan.

"The vaccines will be distributed to medical institutions in 11 different districts of Baku and Sumgait," the ministry said.

The first phase of vaccination covers two cities - Baku and Sumgait.

Further, the other regions will also be vaccinated.

"Vaccination will be done on the voluntary basis for risk group persons. If the first batch of vaccine will not be fully utilized, they will be distributed to other regions of the country," the ministry said.

One dose of vaccine is 10 mg per person.

Pregnant women, persons with weak immune systems, chronic diseases, as well as employees who may be in direct contact with possibly infected enter the risk group.

The Ministry has drawn up a list of individuals at risk through the territorial polyclinics.

So far, Azerbaijan has registered 14 swine flu cases and all patients fully recovered.

New case of influenza infection has not been reported.
