Foreign military aircraft makes emergency landing at Baku airport

Military aircraft from Belgium made an emergency landing at the International Heydar Aliyev Airport in Baku on March 9, Azerbaijan Airways (Azal) Spokesperson Maharram Safarli said.

Belgian military plane flying Bruseels-Baku-Kandahar route made a refueling at the International Heydar Aliyev Airport in order to fly to Kandahar at 9:50 on March 9.

“In Turkmenistan’s airspace, captain of the aircraft reported that the second engine has caught fire, and requested an emergency landing at our airport,” the Azal spokesperson said.

The aircraft is at Baku airport at the moment.

"Now everything is fine. There are no major problems. The Belgian crew awaits delivery of technicians to troubleshoot,” he said.
