102-year-old woman starts at primary school

According to Sky News, Ma Xiuxian sat among her 5-year-old classmates in Grade One of Weshan Road Elementary School.

Xixuan started work at a cotton mill at the age of 13 and married five years later before giving birth to five children - one of whom, Yi Fengxin, 58, came into class to help her on her first day.

Fengxin said: "My mother even sold her jewellery to help put us through school and her biggest dream was to go to school one day herself."

Xixuan added: "I feel very happy that I can finally realise my dream of going to school at this age."

She later addressed the class and said: "Thank you teacher! Thank you my classmates! I'll study hard and make my contribution to the country."
